Finally Friday!!

Oh. my. gosh.

I didn't think I'd survive these last few days.   Seriously....

Tuesday was Valentines Day.  We all know, I had worked really hard on my little girl's class party. My husband had gotten all the fixins for our family Valentine's tradition - fondue.  I had put together little metal pails full of candy, funny surprises, and Itunes gift cards for each of us (hubby took care of mine!).  And then, from out of no where:  BAM!

Migraine.

It literally knocked me on to my ass.  I laid down on the sofa at about 7:00 Tuesday night and I couldn't move.  Until I dragged myself to bed.   What a waste of a perfectly good fondue!

Wednesday morning, I felt better. Got up, got ready for work.  About 10 minutes away from my office - BAM!  Migraine.  Coupled with blinding shots of pain in my eyeball.  And tunnel vision.

I made it for about an hour and then begged my boss to put me out of my misery.

He sent me home.   Where I proceeded to climb into bed, barely kicking off my shoes because it hurt too much, and I passed out for four hours.

Thursday was a bit better.  Not so many blinding shots of pain, and smaller bouts of the tunnel vision.  I made it through the work day.  When I went home, I went straight to bed.  Until my oldest climbed into bed with me to watch "The New Girl".

Today, no blinding pain.  Just a constant, dull thump in my head.   I weakly think "Yay me!".

Needless to say, I didn't get many pictures taken this week.  And clever crafting ideas- yeah, right.  Forget that.  I have been incoherent for the last four days.  I did manage to check in on Pinterest a few times a day.

I wasn't dead.  Sheesh.

Enjoy the smattering of pics I did manage to capture this week:

Kindergarten party cupcakes - genius idea: store each cupcake in a party cup, then wrap in saran wrap!

Who doesn't love a surprise rainbow?

Beer Cheese fondue - fo reals

Kindergarten Class party - such cute little buggers, so excited to get to swappin' Valentines!

Feb Photo a Day - Day 11

A photo of what makes me happy...

Such an easy answer, yet so hard because the list is so long.

I'm generally a happy person.  I'm happy to be alive. I'm happy that my life is what it is. I have an amazing husband and two kids who, for the most part, I love.  When I'm not wanting to strangle them.  :)

But that's the go to answer - my family.  My family makes me happy.

Dig a little deeper.  What else makes me happy?

I love to scrapbook.  And bake.  And play video games.  And pin - I love to pin on Pinterest.

I guess the short answer to the question of what makes me happy is:  to create.

I LOVE to create.
Create a life for my family.
Create a home.
Create memories.
Create friendships.
That's what makes me happy.
Above is my best shot at capturing my happiness on film:  felt fortune cookies for Valentines Day.   It's how I show love for my family and friends, by giving them gifts of things I've made.  Watching their faces as the gifts are opened, or tasted, or watched....  that makes me happy.

See, readers.. I am a happy person!

Feb Photo A Day - Day 10

Ugh...this is the worst...

I hate...hate...HATE pictures of myself.

Believe me, I don't lack in confidence.  When I clean up, I think I clean up okay. I know what its like to feel pretty, and I am proud of how I look (for the most part).  But when I see pictures of myself...damn, that all goes away in a millisecond and I feel like the Elephant Man.

Did I say hate?  That's not the right word.  I vehemently despise any pictures of me.  Ugh.

But, I did it.  I took one.   And, I actually kind of maybe sort of like it a little bit.  The blurry aspect is kind of cool.

Maybe, someday... I'll be able to see pictures of myself and not cringe.   Doubtful, but one can hope!!

And just in case you're wondering about the goofy face, I was singing.  Top of my lungs, no one around me.

February photo - Day 6

Go figure - we have had amazing, sunshine-y, almost spring weather for the past four days.

Today, the photo challenge is to take a picture of the sun.

And...it's raining.  All day.

This is the closest I got to sunshine.  Look - right there. Just barely peeking through the trees. Wait - oh, you missed it.

Back to the sun lamp for me.

February Photo a Day - Day 6 (because I missed day 5!)

Dinner.

Funny enough - this challenge is taking place when my husband is out of town.

My oldest is working.  Its just me and the baby home for dinner.

There is no cooking going on tonight - dinner might consist of a bowl of Cap'n Crunch.  For both of us.

So, to save face, here is a picture of a dinner I did cook a few nights ago.

Low Calorie mini - lasagnas.  Thank you, Pinterest!!

February Photo a Day - Day 4

A stranger...

I felt a little weird thinking of taking a picture of a complete stranger.

Would they think I was a stalker?

Then I saw this guy....

holding a sign, claiming to be disabled.  He was missing his right arm and holding his sign with the left hand, asking for money.

I am the first person to be willing to help someone in need. Especially a vet.

What you can't see in the picture is the form under his jacket, where his right arm is actually hidden.

This guy needs his ass kicked. By a one legged retired veteran.

Feb Photo per day - Day #3

Take a picture of hands..

Hmm....whose hands?  My hands?   My kids' hands?

How about the hands I see at work every day?

You're in good hands!

Feb photo a day - day 2 Some pretty special words

Todays mail brought a few surprises for our family. First, I received my 50th anniversary edition of "To Kill A Mockingbird". So excited!! I've waited for this since Dcember!

The second surprise for us was an acceptance letter from Washington State Univerity for my oldest. It was her first acceptance letter. Her excitement was barely dampened by the fact it is her last choice for school. To know that someone wanted her was enough for her.

But wait...someone does want her. Me. I want her to be seven again, learning to ride her bike. Or laying on the sofa with me watching "rug rats" on Nickelodeon. Or waiting in line at the theater for hours before opening night for the newer Mary-Kate and Ashley movie.

For the first time, it's real to me. She's going to be graduating soon and heading off to school. Don't know how far way yet, but I do know this: I won't be hearing these special words as much:

"see you at home, Mom. Love you"

February Photo a Day - Day 1

Well, I must say.  For how long its been since we've seen each other, you haven't changed a bit. Still the same.  Frozen in time.

Me, on the other hand... not so much.   Some changes are good, like getting into shape.  Some changes, I could do without - like every day waking up to a new gray hair.

I've missed you!

I'm having fun playing with a challenge from Chantelle's blog over at Fat Mum Slim http://www.fatmumslim.com.au/.   It's a photo a day for the month of February. I'm a day behind (story of my life) but I'll catch up!

Check it out...sounds like a super fun challenge.

Here is my picture from day 1:  my view today.
